FAQ - Frequently Asked Questions
Any that run on Garry's Mod's Source engine: Sandbox, DarkRP, TTT, Prop Hunt, Murder, or a gamemode you wrote yourself. The gamemode is set in the startup parameters from the panel, and you can switch whenever you like without reinstalling the server.
You enter your Workshop collection ID in the server configuration. On startup the server downloads the collection's addons, and your players automatically fetch the content they need when they connect. Adding an addon means adding it to the collection, then restarting.
The Workshop suits addons published on Steam: Valve handles distribution, with nothing for you to host. FastDL is for content that lives elsewhere, such as a private map, custom materials or sounds: the files are served over HTTP from the server, which avoids the slow download built into the game. Both are available, and many servers combine a Workshop collection for addons with FastDL for their own content.
Yes, with no artificial limit. Upload your addons, Lua scripts and configuration over SFTP or from the panel's file manager, into the garrysmod/addons folder. Standard admin tools such as ULX install the same way.
Our plans range from 4 to 128 slots. A DarkRP that is just starting usually runs between 32 and 64 players, and you scale up as the community grows. The hardware keeps up with no degradation beyond 32 slots. On DarkRP, the number of loaded addons often weighs as much on performance as the player count.
AMD Ryzen 7 5800X processors, chosen for their high clock speed: the Source engine works mostly on a single core, and that core's speed is what makes a server feel smooth. Storage is local NVMe, which speeds up loading maps, the Workshop and scripts. Network ports go up to 10 Gb/s.
Basic network filtering and L3/L4 anti-flood are included. They limit simple attacks and keep the server reachable in most cases. We prefer to be clear about it: a targeted application-layer attack calls for dedicated protection. Talk to us if your community is exposed to that.
Yes. The console is available in real time from the panel and over RCON, to run commands and watch activity live. Logs are kept for seven days, which lets you trace the cause of a crash or identify a faulty addon after the fact.
Restarts are scheduled from the panel, at the time you choose. On Garry's Mod, a daily restart prevents the memory leaks that eventually slow down a server that has been up for a long time. A Discord notification can warn your players before each restart.
Installation is automated: the server is operational shortly after the order is activated, with Garry's Mod installed and ready for your configuration. Game updates are applied automatically.
