FAQ - Frequently Asked Questions

Three forms exist, and they are not equivalent. A map wipe regenerates the terrain and erases buildings, leaving players their learned blueprints. A blueprint wipe erases those, putting everyone back at the start of progression. A full wipe does both. All three run from the panel, and can be scheduled ahead.
Facepunch ships a monthly update that forces a map wipe, on the first Thursday of the month. Many servers add an intermediate wipe every two weeks to keep the pace, and save the blueprint wipe for the monthly one. A server that never wipes sees its population melt away: newcomers stand no chance against established clans.
Yes, Oxide and uMod install in one click from the panel. You then add your plugins over SFTP or from the file manager. The infrastructure is sized to carry heavy plugin stacks without dropping the tick rate, which is the real limiting factor on a modded server.
Map size is set in the server configuration, as is the seed that determines the terrain. A larger map spreads players out and needs more memory; a smaller one concentrates the fighting. The usual rule is to grow the map alongside the population, otherwise base locations run out.
That is exactly what the hardware targets. Entity checks, which Rust runs constantly for every structure and deployed item, are the most expensive task, and they weigh mostly on a single core. The high-clocked processor and NVMe storage are chosen for that, so fighting stays smooth at full population.
High-clocked processors and NVMe storage. The network is tuned for Rust traffic, which limits ping spikes during raids, the moment when the server has the most to compute and latency is felt most.
Yes, full file access over SFTP and from the panel's file manager, plus a real-time console to run your commands and watch activity. You keep control of your configuration, plugins and server data.
Yes. The database and disk access are tuned so saving stays fast even at peak population, which matters on Rust where a slow save turns into a stutter felt by every player.
The seed is set in the server configuration, and changing it at wipe time gives entirely new terrain. Custom maps load as well, by entering their address in the configuration. In both cases, warn your players: a seed change makes every landmark from the old map useless.
Yes. Fetch your server data, plugins and configuration from your current host, then upload them over SFTP. The easiest moment to move is right after a wipe: there is almost nothing to transfer, and your players lose nothing.
DDoS protection configured specifically for Rust traffic patterns is included. If your server is repeatedly targeted, particularly during raids, talk to our team: that kind of focused attack needs case-by-case handling.
Installation is automated: the server is operational shortly after the order is activated, ready for your configuration, plugins and seed. The wipe tools are available from day one.
